Set the favicons as two letters on the signature, with the ring for One and the cloud for the AKIoT app
Context and Problem Statement
The favicons and app icons were proposed on 2026-10-04 as a tile in the brand’s signature
with the mark’s first letter in white: seven tiles read “a” and two “s”. The delivered
favicons (Branding/akribis-group-favicons/) had done otherwise: “ak”, “sf” and “s4” in
colour on a white circle, and for the AKIoT dashboard a white cloud on a violet tile. AKIoT
also ships an app (the platform at dashboard.akiot.es) whose icon is that cloud, a symbol the
system did not hold. And the icons were published but hard to find on the site: one figure
at the bottom of the Wordmarks page.
On 2026-10-05 Demian set the letters: “ak” for every name that starts with ak, “s4” for SINGULAR4, “sf” for SOLFARMA, “ak” for the parent too; the ring for AKRIBIS One; and asked how the ring is coloured, whether the tile is a circle or a rounded square, and how the AKIoT cloud joins the system.
Decision Drivers
Criteria 2 (one coherent, expandable family), 6 (recognition where it exists) and 9 (generated and tested) of ADR-0009.
Decision Outcome
Stated by Demian on 2026-10-05 (the letters, the ring, the parent’s “ak”, the cloud); the
rest is proposed here for ratification. Data in brand/units.yaml (icon, app) and
brand/marks/icons.yaml; code in brand/src/icons.ts.
-
Letters. The tile carries, in white, letters composed from the glyph library at the wordmark’s own spacing: “ak” for AKRIBIS, AKURALAB, AKUTEMP, AKRIMET, AKLEIA, AKZOTEC, AKIoT and the parent; “sf” for SOLFARMA; “s4” for SINGULAR4. Eight tiles read “ak” and the colour tells them apart, which is what a tab shows anyway; the parent’s deep teal tells it from the unit’s band teal. One scale for every tile: the widest pair (“s4”) spans 72 % of the tile, so the letters are the same size on every brand, the ink box centred.
-
The tile is the signature, the glyph white, as proposed, not coloured letters on a white disc as delivered: at 16 px the colour of the tile carries the identity better than thin coloured letters, and the tile works on light and dark browser chrome alike.
-
AKRIBIS One carries its ring, 60 % of the tile, in white on the teal ink (ADR-0016). Solid in
favicon.svgandfavicon.ico, where the ring measures under its 24 px minimum and the spectrum would muddy; with the spectrum on tiles of 64 px and up (the iOS icon, the Android icons, the maskable one), where it is the mark’s most recognisable form. -
Two shapes, by use; no circle is drawn. A rounded square (corner radius 22 %) where nothing crops the icon: tabs, bookmarks,
favicon.svg,icon-192andicon-512. A full-bleed square with everything scaled to 77 %, inside Android’s 80 % safe zone, where the platform applies its own mask: the iOS home screen, the Android maskable icon, and social avatars, which are cropped to circles by the platform. The delivered circles are not reproduced: the platforms draw the circle.Amendment, 2026-10-05 (ADR-0019). On the full-bleed square the letters are no longer scaled to 77 %; they are fitted by their ink to the safe zone’s circle, which makes them as large as on the rounded square (x-height 40 % against 38 %). The ring keeps 60 %; the cloud’s box is fitted to the circle (68 % wide). The full-bleed square is also the profile picture.
-
The AKIoT cloud joins the library as its one symbol that is not a letter,
brand/marks/symbols/akiot-cloud.svg, kept as delivered (outlines only; the build colours it). It is the icon of the AKIoT platform, a product one level below the unit, declared asappon the AKIoT entry of the register. The unit’s own favicon is “ak” like its siblings; the app’s set is published under/marks/akiot/app/with the cloud at 70 % of the tile (54 % on the full-bleed layout, the delivered proportion), on the AKIoT signature, plus the 1024 px store source. The cloud appears in no other mark. -
On the site, the icons are shown with the brands they belong to: all of them on the Wordmarks page, One’s on its page, the parent’s on its page, the app in its own row.
Consequences
- Good, because every icon follows from two fields in the register and one spec file; a new unit names its letters and gets its icons.
- Good, because the delivered intent (two letters; the cloud for the app) is kept where it carried meaning, and the one thing changed, the tile over the disc, has a stated reason.
- Open: the ring’s size and the letters’ size on real tabs and home screens; whether a drawn circular version is needed after all; the AKIoT app’s manifest name and start URL, set here to the unit’s.
